Overview
Large family of beetles with extremely long antennae. Some invasive species are devastating tree killers.
Highly variable. Most have antennae as long or longer than their body. Adults 6-75mm. Many colorful patterns.
Prevention Strategies
- •Inspect incoming lumber and packing materials
- •Maintain tree health through proper watering and nutrition
- •Report Asian Longhorned Beetle immediately if found
Control Methods
- •Remove and chip/burn infested wood
- •Systemic insecticides for high-value trees
- •Entomopathogenic fungi (Beauveria bassiana) for some species
- •No treatment for Asian Longhorned Beetle - trees must be removed
